![]() In 2021, after a LOT of trouble, I got the third surgeon to write me a wheelchair prescription. AND I'm so out of money after how all of this has gone. As others have shared here, I feel like as a younger person (I'm 36) and someone who can walk (not without pain), I am not taken seriously. I was also told by every doc I saw that because of where the break was (middle of my foot), I was not a good candidate for the fusion surgery as it could just worsen things. ![]() I've been diagnosed with regional pain syndrome, neuropathy, tendinitis, post-traumatic arthritis, Lisfranc ligament injury, blah blah blah no one agrees but they agree that there was a non-displaced right fracture and a lot of scar tissue that results in 24/7 pain. I've done the boot, the knee walker, prednisone, cortisone shots, few rounds of PT, a loaner wheelchair and now, have the most success with Gabapentin, Cymbalta, a cane, standard RICE, hella Tylenol, and thoughts and prayers. I've seen like two podiatrists, two or three GPs, three surgeons, etc. I got hit by a car as a pedestrian in 2019 and longest story short, I have a crushed right foot that didn't heal bc of lots of missed diagnoses, Medicaid issues, the pandemic, lack of money, etc. (Also, RIP Judy Heumann - what an amazing person!!!!) ![]()
